Sanyo - Was founded by Toshio Iue, the brother-in-law of Konosuke Matsushita and also a former Matsushita employee, in 1947 and was incorporated in 1950.[1] The company's name means three oceans in Japanese, referring to the founder's ambition to sell their products worldwide, across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans.

Fisher - Fisher Electronics was purchased by Sanyo from Fisher Radio Corporation in 1975, is a Sanyo US subsidiary.
